The objective of this study is to study on the capital and demand-supply of the maize plantation for livestock in Wawee sub-district, Mae-Sruai district, Chiang Rai province using qualitative research with questionnaires were used with sample group of maize farmers of 500 people in the study area. The statistical analysis tools used here is Descriptive Statistics consists of frequency, percentage and average. The result of the analysis shows that the majority of the farmers which is 49.0% has cultivating area about 6 – 10 rai. The farmer has net income from selling the maize in average is 39,091 Thai Baht Thai Baht / Rai / crop calendar / household, while they have the investing capital for 13,221,7 Thai Baht / Rai / crop calendar / household in average. The cost of the maize in still in the range that the farmers are still satisfied, which is 5 Thai Baht per kg in average. Mostly, the buying-selling process is gone through the middle-merchant which is about 53.0% of the total farmers, with unlimited amount of goods. That is the demand of the maize which is still higher than the supply to be able to produce to meet the demand. From the study, we found that most of the farmers still use open burning for land cultivation preparation. Therefore, if the farmers need more productivity to have more income, it is clear that there will be more maize cultivation and consequently more open burning area in the study area.
