Development of Traffic Police’s English Speaking Skills Using Conversation Exercises

The purposes of this research was to study learners’ abilities in English speaking after using conversation exercises . The target group was 20 traffic police in Chiang Mai. The experimental instruments consisted of 3 lesson plans using conversation exercises, an English speaking evaluation form which was administered to the learners during each lesson plan. The data obtained were analyzed for the mean, standard deviation and percentage. The results showed that all learners’ speaking abilities met the criterion (50%), 20 % of them was at the excellent level, 45 % of them was at the good level, 35 % of them was at the moderate level and 5 of them was at the fair level after learning through conversation exercises.
