Utilizing KWL Plus to Improve the Reading Skills of the Students of Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna

The purposes of this study were to improve students’ reading skill of undergraduate students before and after learning through utilizing KWL Plus reading technique. The target group was 30 first year students enrolled in English 2 course at Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna, Northern Campus, Chiang Mai, during the second semester of academic year 2012. The experimental instruments were 3 lesson plans. Each plan contained 4 periods and a period was 60 minutes. The data collecting instruments were reading skill test. The research procedures comprised of testing students’ reading skill before and after learning through utilizing KWL Plus reading technique lesson plans. The data obtained were analyzed for mean and standard deviation by using the computer program SPSS for Windows. It was found that the students’ reading skill after learning through utilizing KWL Plus reading technique increased.
