The purpose of this research is to study the use of modern communication technology, such as Facebook, as a teaching tool in the subject of English for International Business and Trade for,’ 2nd year Business English Students, by using Facebook as well as test taking. The testing group of 37 persons was selected from the 2nd year Business English students, Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna, Chiang Mai. In doing this research a glossary of Import and Export Business terms and “The strategy of how to run a successful business” case study were made available so that students could take an assigned pre-test of a glossary of Import and Export Business terms and prepare for making an individual presentation for the case study respectively. After the completion of the glossary of Import and Export Business terms pretest the researcher provided opportunities for students to exchange ideas and have internet conversations regarding the pre-test, glossary of terms, and related information. During this conversation period the researcher acted as a consultant, communicator and observer. Students were permitted to ask questions and seek information from the researcher as well as from each other students and outside sources. Students were allowed to have one week of internet conversations, after which the students were given a post-test. And for the case study the researcher also allowed the student to exchange ideas and have internet conversations regarding the case study and relate field. Eventually the student assigned to make an individual conversation. The average of the pre-test scores was compared with the average of the post-test scores in order to determine the development of the students’ communication and comprehension skills. Furthermore a questionnaire had been distributed to the students prior to the research, with a follow-up questionnaire at the completion of the research. In addition the mean and standard deviation of questionnaire scores were used to evaluate the students’ opinions toward the research.
