The objective of this project was to develop the Sesame Oil Cold – Extracting Machine to give larger production rate and could leach some coarse sediment which could reduce dregsing time give longer life of fine filter. A 1.5 hp, 3 phase A.C. motor was used as power source. It,s power was transfer through a 1:30 ratio gear and a wedge belt to drive a power screw, 50.8 mm diameter, 30.0 mm pitch, 7 screw turn, 413.0 mm length and made of 304 AISI stainless steel. A 300 W heater was also used to heat the compressing end. The experimental results showed that when 1 kg raw sesame, up to 6% dry basis moisture was used as raw material, this unit could give 0.229 kg sesame oil at 18 rpm power screw rotating speed. The extracting time was 205.25 seconds. The averaging yield was 22.9% when the extracting rate was 4.04 kg/hr. The extracting temperature was controlled at around 54.70 ◦ C to keep it,s original quality and nutritional properties. The coarse filter could reduce up to 803 g sediment from 2,208 g overall sediment. The filtrating efficiency was 36.37% This coarse filter could reduce dregsing time from 72 hr to only 36 hr.
