Analysis between English and Asian Idioms and Proverbs Based on Social and Culture

The purposes of this research were to analyze the forms and sociocultural aspects of English and Asian Idioms and Proverbs. The samples of this study included 12 English Idioms and Proverbs and 62 Asian Idioms and Proverbs. The research results revealed that 62 Asian Idioms and Proverbs were grouped into 12 topics and the most popular was the topic of warning to do something carefully at 13 and then the topic about life opportunity at 11.3. Moreover, 19 Asian Idioms and Proverbs (30.8 ) mostly originated from nature and animals. Regarding 12 English Idioms and Proverbs it was found that most of them emphasized human beings and acting. Those reflected that nature, hometowns and careers play a crucial role in Asian society whereas human relationship and work were vital in western society.
