dc.description.abstractThis classroom research was aimed to study Students achievement and their Satisfaction using phonetics symbols in English for the first year Business English Students from Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna, Chiang Mai Campus academic year 2012. The sample of this classroom research was 46 students Business English Students. The tool for this experiment was Phonetics tests based on the Second Thousand High Frequency List from Victoria University of Technology Lanna. Students practiced speaking and writing phonetics symbols 50 words a week and each week 10 random phonetics words were selected for students to transcribe into English words. Phonetics tests Pre-test and Post test were used to analyze data and additional 10 Phonetics tests were conducted to see development among students throughout the semester. The data were analyzed statistically using minimum, maximum, arithmetic means, percentage then discussed in descriptive statistics. The result showed that students’ TOEIC examination ability improved by 255.4 % and their satisfaction towards the performance of Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English DVD was very high at 4.3472 from rating scale 5en_US
